Typhoon Yolanda devastated the Philippines on November 8, 2013, it might well be the worst national desaster in the history of the Philippines. Massive humanitarian response is already under way. However, since infrastructure is heavily destroyed, it is very difficult to provide the necessary food, medical help and equipment to those who lost everything.
Health Talent Consulting, the recruitment partner of TVM Capital MENA healthcare companies is acting as coordinator of humanitarian help for our staff from the Philippines. Together with TVM Capital MENA we have set up an account where we will collect the donations of our clients, as many of our staff members are from the Philippines. The money will be used to support families of our staff members who were affected by the storm as well as donated to the Philippine Red Cross who are already on the spot and know how to tackle the difficult logistics and what is needed most. To date our clients have donated $ 20.000 (roughly 870.000 PHP) to support this cause:
Dr Helmut M. Schuehsler, TVM Capital MENA’s Chairman & CEO, Chairman of the Boards of ProVita International Medical Center (Abu Dhabi, UAE) and Bourn Hall International (Dubai, UAE and India), Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center (Abu Dhabi, UAE) and Manzil Health Care Services (Abu Dhabi, UAE) says:
The Philippines has suffered destruction on an unprecedented scale – helping fast and at the right place is our main objective right now. We are coordinating the efforts of the companies in our portfolio, generate ideas about what could be most effective actions and provide help and support as needed. TVM Capital MENA will donate $5,000 (218.000 PHP) to support those most affected. Our recruitment partner Health Talent Consulting is assisting us with the coordination of our efforts. The money will be used to address the immediate needs of all those individuals from the Philippines who work with us, and our portfolio companies, with the remainder donated to the Philippine Red Cross.
Andrew Escamilla, CEO of ProVita International Medical Center, Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center and Manzil Health Care Services, comments:
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this terrible disaster, people who have experienced the loss of family members and the devastation of their homes and livelihood. We pledge to support our colleagues living here in the UAE whose families have been affected, as well as those on the ground, in the wake of this disaster. We will offer personal help to staff that have been directly impacted, such as individual counselling and assisted travel back home. Our recruitment partner Health Talent Consulting is assisting the coordination of our efforts. Each of our three companies will donate $ 5.000, in total $ 15.000 (654.000 PHP) to help staff members whose families are directly affected and will send the remainder to Philippine Red Cross.
